Hospitals Linked Through Malaffi
The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has announced that over 95% of hospitals in Abu Dhabi have connected their medical records to the Malaffi platform.
Malaffi is the first health information exchange platform that has securely connected 1,075 public and private facilities across Abu Dhabi.
The platform allows the exchange of important patient health information between healthcare providers by creating a database for all patient records.
By the end of 2021, all hospitals in Abu Dhabi, public and private, will be connected and will share the medical records of all patients.
Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals can now access a patient’s complete medical history and can make informed decisions with the help of the connected systems.
Medical records like patient visits, medical conditions, allergies, procedures, lab results, radiology reports and medication will all be available through the platform.
Already through the platform, a significant improvement has been noted in the diagnosis and has also reduced duplication of laboratory and radiology investigations.
Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Acting Under-Secretary of the Department Of Health said, “In Abu Dhabi, we have achieved an important milestone in transforming the healthcare sector by connecting most of the Emirate’s hospitals and a large percentage of other healthcare facilities. This will contribute to improving the sector’s performance and providing the best levels of care to residents of the Emirate. Thanks to the directives and support of the wise leadership, innovative platforms such as Malaffi play a prominent and pivotal role in this transformation, the subsequent development of a stronger, more informed, and knowledge founded healthcare system.”
