Health Minister K Sudhakar on Wednesday said the government will provide vaccine at both government and private workplaces from April 11.

The only condition, however, is they must have at least 100 eligible and willing beneficiaries above 45 years of age.

This will further accelerate the vaccination drive and ensure quicker and better coverage, the Minister said.

He participated in a video conference held by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa with deputy commissioners of Bidar, Kalaburgi, Tumakuru, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hassan, Mandya, Mysuru and Chitradurga to review the Covid-19 situation in these districts.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Sudhakar said providing vaccine at workplaces will help lot of companies. “Several large IT firms and industries had earlier requested us to allow vaccination at their premises. Companies can now provide vaccination to their employees at their offices if there are more than 100 eligible and willing beneficiaries. We have crossed 50 lakh inclinations in the state today. Soon we will reach 1 crore,” he said.

Positivity rate has been rising in the last few weeks. In some places testing has been reduced. “We will take measures to increase testing where positivity is high. Identifying SARI and ILI cases has also been discussed. Suggestions and directions given by Union Health Minister in Tuesday’s VC has been conveyed to district administrations.”

“About 7000 cases have been reported in Bengaluru alone on Wednesday with a positivity rate of 5.56%,” he said adding that Bengaluru accounted for 25 of 35 deaths the state reported.
