The highly anticipated second meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich takes place Tuesday in the Parc des Princes in Paris, and the Parisian team has to feel good about its chance to advance to the Champions League semifinals.
PSG took advantage in the first leg of the quarterfinal meeting, scoring three away goals in the 3-2 win over Bayern on April 7. Kylian Mbappe bookended PSG’s goals in the third and 68th minutes, the latter the last goal by either team. Marquinhos scored the second of PSG’s three goals in the 28th minute, putting the Parisians up 2-0. Credit to Munich, however, which brought the score 2-1 in 37th minute (Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting) and tied the game in the 60th with a Thomas Muller header.
Regardless, Bayern faces a significant — but not insurmountable — deficit in its trip to Parc des Princes. But it has some hope heading into the rematch.

The team has overcome first-leg deficits in the knockout stage three times in the Champions League, most recently in the 2014-15 quarterfinals against FC Porto (winning 7-4 on aggregate after falling behind 3-1). PSG has also been on the losing end of such comebacks: It famously blew a 4-0 lead against Barcelona in the first leg of the 2016-17 Round of 16, losing 6-1 in the second leg.
Moreover, Bayern recently set a Champions League record with its 4-1 win over Lazio in Rome, extending its streak of away games without losses to 17 (13 wins, four draws). Conversely, PSG has lost six times at home this season, compared to just three in 2019-20.
Will PSG hold on to victory to advance to the Champions League semis? Or will Munich enjoy yet another comeback, this time at the cost of the Mbappe and Co.?
