Suspects are still at large following a shooting at a Nebraska mall that has left one person in the hospital with critical injuries, law enforcement officials say.
The shooting took place at Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska, on Saturday around noon local time.
“Suspects fled the scene and are at large. OPD is searching the entire mall as a precaution,” the Omaha Police Department wrote in a tweet.
Residents are asked to avoid the area as the police continue to search for the suspects involved. The mall has been closed for the day as an investigation takes place.
One man is in critical condition at Bergan Mercy Hospital, police say. A second victim, a woman, went to Immanuel Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury to her leg, Lt. Neal Bonacci said during a press briefing.
People took shelter in the mall after gunshots were fired near a JC Penney.
Police are looking for two suspects involved in the shooting, but they have yet to release any details as they work to identify them.
