The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) is organising charity art auctions to raise money for the ‘100 Million Meals’ initiative.
A live auction will be held on Saturday, 24 April at Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah in Dubai.
The art pieces will include a piece of Kaaba cover embroidered in gold and silver, donated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and rare artworks by world-renowned artists, including Pablo Picasso, Nelson Mandela, Salvador Dali and Henri Matisse.
Works by the South African leader Nelson Mandela, ‘The Swallow’, as well as rare collections of gold and silver medallions designed by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso will be on display.
David Hockney’s paintings ‘The Sailor’ and ‘The Western House’ will also be on display alongside paintings ‘Untitled’ and ‘Waso’ by Joan Miró, ‘Flower and Vase’ by Henri Matisse, as well as drawing ‘Search in the Faces’ by Salvador Dali.
Hollywood actor Will Smith will also reveal a collaborative painting with British-Indian artist Sacha Jafri.
Up until 30 April, a silent auction will be held online with 53 items on display including signed jerseys by international football stars, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil, Nicolas Anelka, and Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal.
The public can additionally bid on exclusive experiences including attending the Formula 1 race in Monaco or Abu Dhabi, watching the Northern Lights in Lapland, spending a vacation in the Italian countryside of Tuscany and experiencing zero gravity and floating in the void like astronauts.
