Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope, minority development minister Nawab Malik and state Congress chief Nana Patole all said the state needed more than 26,000 injections of remdesivir that the Centre is giving to the state per day, since April 21.
“This is not going to be enough; we have been given half of what we have been asking per day,” Tope said. “We are going to write a letter to the Centre asking for more vials to be given to us as we have more cases as compared to other states.”
Tope said the state earlier used to get 36,000 injections per day. “However, now the centre has taken the control of the supply.”
Malik and Patole warned that the situation in the state “could become further difficult” if it does not get the desired quantity of the drugs.
Maharashtra officials said that while the state has the highest active covid cases in the county at 6,95,747 active cases, it has still been given only 2,31,200 vials of Remdesivir till April 30.
