No arrests were made in connection with an hours-long standoff at a London home that started Tuesday afternoon and ended in the wee hours of Wednesday, London police say.
Heavily armed police surrounded a home at 375 Springbank Dr. about 1 p.m., with city police, who were assisting Windsor police in their investigation, shuttering Springbank between Chelsea Avenue and Berkshire Drive. Kernohan Parkway was also closed during Tuesday’s events.
London police announced shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday the roads had been reopened to traffic.
Windsor police said Wednesday they wouldn’t release the name of the suspect “to maintain the integrity of the investigation.”
The unidentified suspect wasn’t located at the home, police said.
Witnesses told The Free Press officers were at one point wearing gas masks and fired an unknown substance at the home where they believed a wanted man was hiding.

The substance was fired at the home from two locations and from an adjoining parking lot about 8 p.m., witnesses said.
A popular Tim Hortons, located right across the street in a plaza parking lot, was also shuttered amid the police presence.
“We received information that a male wanted by an outside police service was inside a residence here in the city of London,” said Const. Sandasha Bough, a London police spokesperson.
The emergency response and canine unit were on the scene, she said.
The home surrounded by police is in a quiet part of London, just east of Wonderland Road, that’s home to a mix of single-family homes, townhouses and retail outlets. The plaza right across the street includes a Giant Tiger, Scotiabank and pub.
