After missing the last three games with a thigh contusion, Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant is probable to return to the lineup on Sunday against the Phoenix Suns.
Durant injured himself in the first quarter of the Nets game against the Miami Heat last weekend. He got tangled up with Miami’s Trevor Ariza when he went to the basket for a layup.
The 32-year-old’s return puts the Nets one step closer to having a healthy roster. However, James Harden remains out indefinitely with a hamstring strain, and Nic Claxton is still in health and safety protocols.
Durant has been one of Brooklyn’s best players this season, averaging 27.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 54.3% from the field and 46.2% from deep.
The Nets are first in the Eastern Conference with a 40-20 record. The Philadelphia 76ers owned the top spot in the conference for a majority of the season. If Philly loses to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, Brooklyn will be in sole possession of the top spot in the East.
