Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin passed away on Saturday morning at a Delhi hospital where he was under treatment for COVID 19.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday had directed the AAP government and the prison authority to ensure proper medical supervision and care of former RJD MP Mohd Shahabuddin who is suffering from COVID-19 and admitted to DDU Hospital.

Shahabuddin, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in Tihar Jail in the murder case, was admitted to the hospital on 21 April last month. His condition was critical after corona infection.
The gangster-turned-politician, serving life imprisonment in Tihar jail, is among the high profile inmates along with gangster Chhota Rajan who have tested positive for COVID-19 inside the jail premises despite being locked up in a single cell with minimum interaction with other inmates.
Shahabuddin was serving a life sentence in a 2004 double murder case in which two brothers were killed for not paying extortion money.
Satish and Girish Roshan were murdered in August 2004 in Siwan for refusing to pay extortion money. A third brother, Rajiv Roshan, who was an eyewitness, was shot dead on June 6, 2014.
On December 9, 2015, a special judge had convicted Shahabuddin and his associates for the murders and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
There are more than three dozen criminal cases against Shahabuddin.
Before going to Tihar Jail, he has also spent a long time in the jail of Bhagalpur and Siwan in Bihar. He came out of jail after getting bail in the year 2018, but soon his bail was cancelled and he had to return back. On 15 February 2018, the Supreme Court ordered the former RJD MP to be brought from Siwan to Tihar Jail.
