Police in Germany took down “one of Europe’s most prolific” online platforms to share child sexual abuse material on the darkweb, authorities said Monday.
The platform called “Boystown” had 400,000 registered users, Europe’s law enforcement agency Europol said in a statement. “Several other chat sites on the dark web … were also seized,” it added.
Law enforcement agencies from the Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, Canada and the U.S. worked with Germany’s Federal Criminal Police to take down the site.
Four German individuals were arrested earlier this month for their involvement in the sharing of the material.
