Sarma tweeted, “A series of developments today. At a meeting with PWD & GMCH it’s been decided that PWD will immediately start work on construction of 256 and 24 new ICU beds at GMCH and Kalapahar Covid Hospitals, respectively”.
In another tweet, he said, “Also pleased that GOC 4 Corps of @adgpi has kindly consented to start construction of a 60-bedded ICU at Tezpur Medical College. This shall strengthen our #COVID19 management infrastructure. We are indeed grateful to Indian Army”.
Frontier headquarter BSF Guwahti has established 46 Quarantine Care Centres to face the situation.
BSF added that these Covid Centres are fully equipped with concentrators, oxy-meters, sufficient medicines and PPE kits. Sanjay Singh Gehlot, Inspector General. BSF Guwahati Frontier conducted an urgent meeting with the officers of Guwahati Frontier regarding the prevailing Covid-19 situation and preparedness to protect the BSF personnel and the Border villagers.
Apart from that Frontier HQ BSF Guwahati and Composite Hospital, Sectors and Battalions have also set up more than 2356 beds duly partitioned quarantine centres. Senior level medical officers and paramedics are also ready to take care of these patients.
