Believe it or not, 5G is here. While speeds in the United States continue to lag, many countries in Europe and Asia are currently enjoying faster downloads thanks to the new technology. You might already know that the countries with the fastest speeds include Saudi Arabia and South Korea, but what about individual cities?
Mobile analytics company Opensignal has released its analysis of real-world 5G data and determined the highest network speeds in the world. Measuring across all frequency bands in mid-April, it found that Jeonju, the 16th largest city in South Korea, has the fastest 5G speeds of any city. Residents can enjoy average download speeds of 415.6Mbps, which is 15% faster than the country’s national average.
The next-fastest 5G city is Hsinchu City in Taiwan, which boasts download speeds of 360.1Mpbs. Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, rounds out the top three with 317.3Mbps downloads on average. The remaining entries in the top 10 include European cities Barcelona, Dublin, and Zurich, along with Calgary, Dubai, Melbourne, and Tokyo.
It should come as no surprise that no US city made the top 10 list. When measuring upload and download speeds, as well as video, gaming, and voice experience, the United States failed to appear among any of the top countries.
