The DJI Air 2S is focused on high-grade flight performance and incredible imagery. It boasts a full frame sensor, an upgraded artificial intelligence (AI) system and compatibility with ‘Motion Control’ and ‘FPV Goggles’.
All-in-one tool
Using its 1-inch sensor, the drone can capture 20MP still images and 5.4K video at 30fps. Moreover, it supports 4K video at 60fps and 150Mbps. With a larger sensor than the original Mavic Air 2, the Air 2S can capture more information and detail in photos. For those interested in getting closer to a subject, the DJI Air 2S comes with new digital zoom support. It can support between 4-8x zoom based on the quality of footage you are recording.
The Air 2S uses DJI’s renowned three-axis mechanical gimbal to smoothen out footage and also provides an additional 8GB of storage. There is also support for H264 and H265 video alongside colour profiles including Normal (8-bit), D-Log (10-bit) and HLG (10-bit).
Pro-level footage
With the DJI Air 2S, you find the most programmed flight modes and image capture modes of any DJI drone of its size. Among these is ‘MasterShots’ where the drone autonomously plans a flight path to start recording classic aerial footage which can then be shared with the world. There are other modes including ‘FocusTrack’ to keep track of a subject, ‘QuickShots’ where the drone performs a series of maneuvers based on your mode preference and ‘Hyperlapse’ to see the world sped up and in motion up to 4K resolution.
Intuitive and safe
Built with four high-grade antennas and DJI’s proprietary OcuSync tranmission technology, the Air 2S delivers a stable feed at a maximum distance of 12km. With a maximum air time of 31 minutes, the drone also gives pilots more time to capture their footage. Additionally, with an ‘Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS) 4.0’, the drone can maneuver around, under and over obstacles. While flying at normal speeds, APAS 4.0 offers a wider field-of-view to detect obstacles compared to previous versions.
If pilots are flying at higher speeds, as the angle of the drone pitches forward more, the newly added upward obstacle sensor plays a part in assisting obstacle detection. Just like DJI’s latest drones, the Air 2S has an AirSense system that warns drone pilots of nearby airplans and helicopters transmitting ADS-B signals. In this way, the drone can quickly be moved to a safer location. Other standard DJI safety features on the drone include a Return-To-Home (RTH) feature and GEO 2.0.
