Madinat Jumeirah, along with its surrounding bars and restaurants, will host Dubai Comedy Festival’s Comedy Bizarre for the first time ever, bringing 10 nights of laughter, live entertainment, music, food, and much more to one of the city’s most iconic destinations, from the 13th to 22nd May 2021.
The Comedy Bizarre will take inspiration from everyone’s favourite TV game shows of the 80s and 90s, immersing families and friends alike in a world of fun, games, prizes, and surprises. One of the focal points of the city-wide extravaganza of laughs, The Comedy Bizarre will also feature open mic nights, and stand-up performances by Tony Woods, Dean Edwards, Wil Sylvince, Reem Edan, Eman Morgan, and Nina Karoufeh, as well as Arabic shows from some of the very best Middle Eastern comedians.
Open Mic Nights
Don’t miss the chance to see local comedy buffs test their skills at one of The Comedy Bizarre’s Open Mic Nights, from the 13thto 19th of May, kicking off at 7 pm each night, at Madinat Jumeirah Amphitheatre. Your favourite Egyptian-American comedian will bring his hilariously evil jokes to The Comedy Bizarre stage at the Madinat Jumeirah Amphitheatre, giving the audience an up-close-and-personal chance to witness him bridge the comedic gap between communities across the world. Arabic Stand-Up: Adi Khalefa, Ali Al Sayed, & Eman Khallouf
Get ready to laugh out loud (a lot) as Dubai Opera welcomes some of the funniest Arabic stand-up comedians to the stage on the 19th of May:
- Adi Khalifais a Palestinian stand-up comedian from Nazareth. To this day, he has performed in multiple comedy festivals around the world, opening for and participating with renowned comedians such as Bassem Yousef, Maz Jobrani and Nemr Abu Nassar, and Pablo Fransisco in local and international festivals like the Dubai Comedy Festival and The Arab Network Comedy Festival.
- Dubai-based Ali Al Sayed’s lightning-fast wit and rapport with audiences has allowed him to perform numerous shows in the iconic Comic Strip Live in New York, as well as major international gigs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Theatre of Change Festival in Greece. As the Co-founder of Dubomedy, Ali co-started the first comedy school in the region, introducing stand-up comedy from an Arab perspective and paving the way for many young comedians. Ali is involved in the Dubai Comedy Festival as a curator and performer and has shared the stage with the likes of Dave Chappelle and Trevor Noah. He has also appeared on three seasons of ‘Comedy Central Presents: Stand Up’.
- Eman Khallouf is the first female comedian to perform stand-up comedy shows (in Arabic) in the UAE. She entered the world of comedy by chance and presented more than 300 comedy shows in the UAE and around the world over three years. She presented three shows in Berlin in 2019 and all tickets sold out and participated in many comedy festivals such as the Montreux Comedy Festival 2018 and 2019, and the Ras Al Khaimah Happiness Festival 2018.

Finally, there is a German comedy show in Dubai, as Khalid Bounouar, Ususmango, and Nizar, the rebels of the German comedy scene, come to The Comedy Bizarre at Madinat Jumeirah Amphitheatre for two shows on the 20thof May.
