The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Tuesday released a clarification regarding the incorrect news published on UGC examination guidelines. A notice regarding this has been uploaded on the official website of the commission at ugc.nic.in.

According to the notice, some print and digital news media had published incorrect news regarding the UGC examination guidelines. In the clarification, the commission states that the notice issued on May 6, 2021, urges higher educational institutes to not hold offline examinations in May 2021 in view of the rising number of coronavirus cases across the country.

“In view of the news circulating in print and digital media, it is clarified that UGC has not yet issued any guidelines on examination recentlty and the news is incorrect,” reads the official notification.

The commission had also urgerd the higher educational institutes to conduct online examinations only if they can ensure that they are prepared in all respects following guidelines issued by the central government, state governments, Education Ministry, and the UGC.

Most of the state boards and varsities had already either postponed or canceled their board or university exams in view of the rising number of coronavirus cases. Recently, the Delhi University has deferred the final semester examinations for two weeks and the fresh schedule for the DU final semester examination will be released in due course on the varsity’s official website.
