Dougall Avenue drivers need to ‘do better,’ say Windsor police

A traffic enforcement blitz by Windsor police with particular focus on the 4000 block of Dougall Avenue resulted in at least 30 speeding tickets on Tuesday.

A traffic enforcement blitz earlier this week with particular focus on the 4000 block of Dougall Avenue resulted in multiple speeding tickets — and Windsor police calling upon drivers to be more responsible.

“As a community, we need to do better,” stated Windsor Police Service in a news release.

Police described the South Windsor section of roadway as a “targeted area of concern” due to its ongoing issues with speeders.

The Windsor police traffic enforcement unit conducted a total of 85 enforcement actions on Tuesday.

Those actions included 39 traffic tickets being issued — at least 30 of them involving speeding.

Elsewhere in the city on the same day, Windsor police caught a vehicle travelling 179 km/h on the E. C. Row Expressway (resulting in a stunt driving charge), and also found a stolen vehicle.

“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and obeying traffic laws is imperative to keep our roadways and communities safe,” Windsor police stated.

“Travelling above posted speed limits significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death during a collision.”
