Nestled on the Puget Sound with a skyline glittering below majestic Mt. Rainier, Seattle is the perfect tourist destination. Historic landmarks, exquisite eateries, and cool live music provide something for everyone. Read on to learn the hottest spots and attractions that must occupy space on every visitor’s itinerary.
Pike Place Market
This waterfront attraction is
a bustling, jam-packed shopping center full of fish markets, specialty stores,
and seafood restaurants. Visitors and locals swarm Pike Place Market day and
night, gathering their dinner ingredients and purchasing their favorite CBD
oil.
The best time to visit the market is in the morning, as the crowds tend to get more unmanageable towards the afternoon. Do not forget to visit the craft shops with an excess of 200 vendors selling everything from hand-knit gloves to homemade home decor. Truly an experience in and of itself, Pike Place Market is an excellent way to spend breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Seattle!
Space Needle
Upon its construction in
1962, the Space Needle was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River.
No longer holding this title, it prevails as the most notable point in the
Seattle skyline.
Tourists can ride the glass elevator to the top observation deck, boasting panoramic views of the city. Photo opportunities abound with Mt. Rainier and the Seattle skyline providing gorgeous backdrops. The glass floor of the deck now rotates in a circle, the first of its kind. This modern feature allows tourists to spot up to 60 Seattle landmarks while standing in one place!
Museum of Pop Culture
Seattle has long boasted a
reputation rich in music history and rife with pop culture. The original grunge
bands hailed from Seattle, and their authentic instruments and historical
record albums are all currently displayed in the Museum of Pop Culture.
In addition to music, the museum provides movie buffs a glimpse into the city’s classic film productions. From horror movies to action flicks, Seattle provides a background for some of Hollywood’s most recognizable feature films. With its funky sheet-metal architecture and easy monorail access, this museum is a Seattle institution that should be on every tourist list.
Chihuly Garden and Glass
Dale Chihuly, born and raised
in Washington, is a world-famous glass blowing artist. His sculptures have
appeared in exhibits across the globe, for his colorful, outrageous sculptures
are unlike any others.
The exhibition was established in 2012 and is representative of Chihuly’s most celebrated works of art. Included in the museum are eight design galleries, a gorgeously green garden, and the famous Glasshouse. The Glasshouse models modern conservatories and is made entirely of steel and glass. The main attraction is the 98-foot glass sculpture hanging from the ceiling, reflecting a rainbow of colors throughout the house. It is a work of art not to miss!
Pacific Science Center
If you have a science
weakness, add the Pacific Science Center to your list of must-see attractions
in Seattle. This educational, hands-on museum is fun for the whole family; both
kids and adults can enjoy the educational experiments and live demonstrations.
Not only do science
exhibitions abound, but the Pacific Science Center boasts a full-service movie
theater, planetarium, laser dome, and virtual reality auditorium. Complete with
a live tropical butterfly forest, this museum is nothing short of enchanting.
