New Delhi: In a benevolent gesture, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced an ex gratia of Rs 50,000 to those families affected by deaths due to Covid-19.
Kejriwal, who made this announcement, said the families affected by the coronavirus face many problems at home.
“Several families have lost the bread earner and now none are left to earn for the family. There are many children, who have lost both their parents,” he added.

Below are the announcements made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government:
- The government gives five kg ration to the 72 lakh people in Delhi having ration cards. The ration is being given free of cost to them this month. Besides, five kg ration is provided by the Centre. So, a total of 10 kg ration will be free.
- The Delhi Government will also provide ration to those people, who do not have ration cards yet. Last year too, ration was provided to the people not covered under the public distribution system (PDS) of the National Food Security Act (NFSA). This will begin in two to three days.
- Every family that has had a death due to corona will be given Rs 50,000 each as ex-gratia.
- A pension of Rs 2,500 per month besides the ex gratia amount in cases where the sole bread winner of a family has passed away due to Covid.
- The Delhi Government will provide Rs 2,500 every month for children, who have lost at least one of their parents, due to Covid, till the age of 25. Besides, the Delhi Government will bear the expenses of their education.
The announcement comes as Delhi reported 4,482 new Covid-19 cases, 9,403 recoveries and 265 deaths in the last 24 hours.
