Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze is reportedly open to a summer switch and has already ‘spoken’ to a few top Premier League clubs.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding season for the Spanish side. The winger has made 13 starts among 28 La Liga appearances scoring four goals and assisting two. But it is in Europe that he has done some of his best work, helping the Yellow Submarine to the Europa League final.
They will face Manchester United in Poland on May 26 and the Red Devils are one of the clubs linked. They have joined Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham as potential suitors for the Nigeria international.
Chukwueze has started 10 of his 11 outings in Europe’s second-tier competition this term. The skilful wide man has scored one and assisted four, giving his side every chance of walking away with the trophy.
And his displays have not gone unnoticed throughout Europe. In addition to the English clubs, he is said to have spoked to unnamed European sides as well.
CaughtOffside are reporting that the African would “definitely consider” a move away from Estadio de la Ceramica in the off-season. He is said to be keen to try his luck at a bigger club and it looks set to be an interesting race for his signature.
Spaniards to demand big bucks for Chukwueze
There have been varying valuations put on Chukwueze’s head, with €60m thought to be the entry level for any interested party. That might make a few clubs baulk at pursuing the player but he does seem an exciting talent for the future.
Villarreal boss Unai Emery certainly thinks so. Earlier this season he stressed how vital the youngster is to his cause while admitting his long-term future will be elsewhere.
“Maybe in the future he can go to another league to grow up more but I think he’s very happy here with us, and every match with him is very important to try to get best performance with him,” he said.
Liverpool and United are said to hold the strongest interest as they look to strengthen this summer. He has a release clause worth €80m but it is thought that would just be a basis for negotiation.
It seems inevitable that the man from Umuahia will be on his way and the Europa League final is the perfect shop window.
