Re: City moves to change bylaw limiting riverfront building height, in order to get Celestial Beacon built, by Brian Cross, April 27
After reading about the city’s plan to change a zoning bylaw in order to build the Celestial Beacon and possibly open up the riverfront to further “beacons,” I wished that Mayor Drew Dilkens would learn more about “servant leadership.”
This leadership model requires the humility to listen and put others’ needs before your own.
In this case, it would mean hearing the voices of the people about protecting the riverfront park as it presently exists and being flexible enough to change direction.
The only change of direction now seems to be a new strategy for forging ahead with a bad plan.
This is not about winning or losing. It’s about what’s best for the city.
