Kolkata, May 28: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not attend Cyclone Yaas review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kalaikunda in West Midnapore on Friday.
West Bengal CM and Chief Secretary arrived late by 30 minutes for cyclone review meet despite being in the same premises. Upon entering review meet, Mamata Banerjee handed over papers related to the cyclone impact and said that other meetings were lined up and left, ANI reported quoting sources.

However, Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Naredra Modi and submitted a preliminary report on the damages caused by cyclone ”Yaas” in the state.
“PM Modi had called meeting. We didn’t know I had meeting in Digha. I went to Kalaikunda and gave PM report, asking for Rs 20,000 Cr- Rs 10,000 crore each for Digha Development and Sundarban Development. I told him you (state’s officials) wanted to meet me. I took his permission and left,” Mamata said.
The meeting between the two leaders lasted for around 15 minutes, he said.
“The CM has briefed PM Modi about the situation in the worst-hit areas of the state,” the official told PTI.
However, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed dissatisfaction over confrontational stance of the state government.
It would have served interests of state and its people for CM and officials @MamataOfficial to attend Review Meet by PM.
Confrontational stance ill serves interests of State or democracy.
Non participation by CM and officials not in sync with constitutionalism or rule of law.

Modi flew down to Odisha earlier in the day to review the post-cyclone situation, and then made his way to West Bengal, where the storm wreaked havoc in the coastal districts.
