Turkey has too many internal problems to consider external expansion just yet. Dealing with the US-equipped Kurds is a bit of a problem, but the main problem remains the economy. Turkey no longer has an empire to squeeze for more money. Greece and the Balakans are more than capable of looking after themselves, especially with Greece being part of NATO and the Balkans being the Afghanistan of the West.
Russia supports Assad, so Southward expansion is out. Israel showed how much they give a shit about Turkish capabilities when they stormed the Mavi Marmara. The only way is North – and that means conflict with the Russians who are already tied up in Donbass. God knows what they’ll do if the PLA crosses the Amur and occupies Vladivostok.
Putin has every reason to fear Turkey.
Hell, we might get another Charge of the Light Brigade.
