Buendia bid rejected
According to multiple sources, Arsenal have made a first bid for Norwich City’s Emi Buendia.
The Canaries winger has enjoyed a strong season in the Championship, scoring 15 times and providing a further 17 assists as he helped his side win the Championship title and return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
His good performances have caught Arsenal’s eye, with the Gunners said to value the winger very highly. According to the Sun’s reporter Charlie Wyett, the club presented an offer thought to be around £30 million for Buendia. This report was then echoed by Arsenal twitter transfer account theAFCBell, who has built a reputation on reporting reliable information.

The account claimed that Arsenal’s offer had been rejected and that talks continue between the two clubs.
Norwich Sporting director Stuart Webber has already hinted at the price needed to prize any Norwich assets away from Carrow Road this summer in an interview with BBC sport. Webber said:
“If we do sell one, it’s going to be a club-record deal. It’s probably going to start with a number three in front of it and that will give us great opportunities to maybe make the whole better as well. We’re really relaxed on that front.”
Although Arsenal’s opening bid for Buendia may have been rejected then, the clubs cannot be too far apart in valuation, and with the Gunners looking to complete their deals early in the window, this transfer could move quickly.
Odegaard to stay in Madrid?
The Athletic had previously reported that Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard was Arsenal’s number one target, but the return of Carlo Ancelotti to the Spanish capital has made that deal far more difficult to achieve. Whilst former boss Zinedine Zidane considered Odegaard expendable, it is unknown if the Italian manager feels the same.
Based on this information, however, it would suggest that Ancelotti is keen to keep Odegaard in Madrid, a fact that has been communicated to Arsenal. The Gunners have subsequently moved for their secondary target, although they are thought to face stiff competition from Aston Villa, who are also looking to sign the Argentinian international.
Buendia creating this many chances in a team that got relegated that season is some achievement. Would be a great signing for us. pic.twitter.com/difc5TbKxJ

Whichever creative midfielder Arsenal sign, they will need a strong supporting cast to help them back into any form of European competition. Although Buendia or Odegaard would be a key piece of business, more would need to come.
