Midday Work Ban For Workers
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that a ban on work has been placed for workers in the sun and at open spots.
The ban is in place from 12.30pm to 3pm from 15 June to 15 September, during peak summer.
Morning and evening shifts for workers should not exceed more than eight hours. In line with the Federal Law concerning the Regulation of Labour Relations, workers that work more than eight hours will be counted as overtime for which the employee needs to be paid.
A fine of Dhs 5,000 will be given to a company for each worker that works during the ban. Dhs 50,000 fine will be placed if multiple workers are seen working during the ban.
The establishment will also have its file suspended or have its status downgraded in the MoHRE classification system based on the severity of the breach.
A schedule of daily working hours must be displayed at the workplace, with it written in languages, including Arabic, that the workers can easily understand.
Protective devices to prohibit injury must also be given to workers by the company along with other forms of protection and followed by workers for their safekeeping, according to the Labour Law.
Individuals can report the violation by calling 80060, which is available in four different languages.
