Twitter has apologised for withdrawing blue tick from Vice President of India Venkaiaih Naidu’s personal handle after IT minitsry interfered and raised questions over twitter’s policies. The microblogging platform had cited that the Vice president’s account was inactive for the last 6 months which led to the removal of the blue tick.
However, the ministry stated that late President Pranab Mukherjee and late external affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj still have the blue badge without inactivity so the reasons given by the microblogging platform are not actually valid.
Twitter accepted its mistake after restoring the blue tick of the Vice President’s personal account and assured the government that the blue tick of other RSS leaders will be restored within hours.
