A swarm of cicadas on Wednesday delayed a White House press plane carrying dozens of journalists to the United Kingdom for US president Joe Biden’s first foreign trip.
The flight was delayed by seven hours after Brood X cicadas disrupted the mechanics of the press plane. Weather and crew rest issues also contributed to the delay. The plane was later swapped for another one, and the flight took off shortly after 4am on Wednesday.
Even Biden wasn’t spared.
