We’re back for part 2 of our Cabo series.
If you missed part 1 which was a full breakdown of my outfits be sure to check it out here.
There were so many ummmm, let’s say ‘unique’ things ( LOL ) that happened on this trip when it came to traveling with a baby so I decided to dedicate a whole post to things that can make it easier.
Little disclaimer: I AM NOT AN EXPERT !! This is just what I do. Don’t listen to me because I know jack shit. I’m just sharing what works for us. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into it.
MUST HAVE ITEMS FOR TRAVELING WITH A BABY:
♡ A Sippy Cup
This is such a good sippy cup & I find myself constantly giving it to Zaza because it doesn’t spill all over my diaper bag. It’s only $6 & she can drink from it at every angle because it has a weight at the end of the straw. Also, there’s a hood/cover type of thing for the straw which is key to avoid germs & leaking.
It’s lightweight, easy for babies to hold, & Zaza has the hot pink so it’s easy to find in the depth of my diaper bag ( if you’re a mom, you know what I’m talking about ).
We like to give her juice, water or coconut milk in, it’s BPA free & you can put it in the top rack of your dishwasher ( we use a straw cleaner too ).
If you’re into a ‘mommy & me’ situation you can always get your kid a matching Hydro Flask. Zaza has the pink one with a straw lid & the silicone sleeve that protects the bottom when she drops it a million times a day.
♡ Serenity Kids Bone Broth Puffs
These puff snacks are with me all the time. I literally don’t even go for a quick walk without them. I mean, if these aren’t with us, forget it. Zaza loves them. Her favorite are the broccoli & spinach ones.
They’re savory, not sweet, so they have 0 grams of sugar, they’re made with bone broth & olive oil and organic dehydrated broccoli, spinach, kale, parsley, lemon, thyme, garlic, onion & rosemary.
You should know there are NO FILLERS ( like rice & wheat ) which can be hard for a baby’s little tummy to digest.
If you’ve never heard of Serenity Kids, they specialize in super high-quality kids food. All their ingredients are ethically sourced, the vegetables are 100% organic, and they’re full of healthy fats. Their focus is on nutrient density, regenerative agriculture and all their packaging is eco-friendly. And get this… they will even send you an envelope, postage paid, so you can send back used pouches for them to recycle for you. It just doesn’t get better than that.
Serenity Carr, the founder of Serenity Kids came on the blog not too long ago where she shared all her tips for prepping to having a baby. Be sure to check it out here.
♡ LOTS of Snacks
We pack lots of other snacks like blueberries, cucumber, watermelon, avocado & tangerines, but specifically I always like to have That’s It apple crisp snacks. Zaza thinks these are a treat but actually they only contain one thing: organic apple.
Do yourself a favor & throw in a few extra bags for yourself because I bet you can’t stop eating them.
♡ Download Some Shows
Judge away, judge away. The Lion King on my burner phone has been saving the day lately. ( I have 2 phones, one for work & one for play, and having two save my ass in a pinch ).
Hilary, who is on my team, swears by Storybots on Netflix for her son. He loves it & it has expanded his vocabulary in a major way. So the next time we’re on a flight I’ll be downloading that for Zaza.
♡ A Specific Playlist
Zaza loves Bossa nova ( shocker ) but I also have the special playlist I made for her that’s full of Disney songs & French lullabies. She’s been listening to this playlist since she was a small baby, so naturally it soothes her almost instantly.
Her absolute favorite are the songs from Pinocchio though. When You Wish Upon a Star & I’ve Got No Strings are two of her favorites.
Even the songs that you wouldn’t expect on the Pinocchio soundtrack, the ones with no words, are really nice. The ones called The Clock Sequence, The Kitten Theme & The Blue Fairy are really nice background songs. It just reminds you of going to Disneyland with a Dole Whip, extra large pickles, & corn dogs, ya know? It gives you all the nostalgic feels.
♡ Be Chill- It’s Just Another Day
When we travel we try to keep a calm vibe & not give the whole ordeal too much energy. We act like “it’s just another day hunny!”
We try to keep our vibe light & airy & it helps when I’m very stoic with her. She feeds off my energy so if I’m freaking out, she freaks out.
♡ Other Essentials:
+ water wipes
+ diapers ( my god, BE SURE you remember diapers )
+ mess free markers & coloring book
+ plastic bag ( if there’s a barf/blowout situation, food scraps, dirty wipes, or dirty silicone plates, throw it all in a plastic bag to sort out later. TRUST ME you don’t want banana peels & a barfy onesie floating around your diaper bag )
In the end, preparation is KEY. Man, it really saves your life when it comes to traveling with a baby.
If all else fails, head to the bathroom to ‘fix your makeup’ & let your significant other deal with it all. Let’s be honest: traveling with a baby is no joke.
Please please please share all your hacks when it comes to anything baby related. I need all the help I can get.
