This Surrey bathroom is no dump.
The new architecturally designed Surrey parks washroom is one of five finalists, and the only B.C. contender, for Cintas Canada’s Best Restroom Award of 2021.
Designed by JIM Architecture to be universally accessible, the Surrey parks modular loo is hands-free with no-touch fixtures and configured for solar power, according to Cintas. It also features public-art panels on all four sides of the structure. The design employs a distinct form, strong colours and a unique use of materials.
The Surrey parks washroom is up against four other posh potties in Borden Park in Edmonton, the Sweet Market Esso Station in Red Deer, The Rooftop in Calgary and the Toronto Zoo.
Nominees for this year’s contest were judged on five criteria: Cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements.
Anyone who wants to vote on their favourite loo can do so at bestrestroom.com until July 9.
The privy that receives the most votes will win $2,500 in facility services from Cintas to help maintain their award-winning washrooms.
