At GamesRadar+’s E3 showcase, the Future Games Show, indie publisher United Label unveiled new details regarding its upcoming, souls-like, boss-rush game: Eldest Souls.
Developed by Fallen Flag Studios, Eldest Souls is a challenging, 2D title that focuses on hard-hitting, fast-paced combat. Narratively, Eldest Souls tells the tale of the Old Gods who unleash devastation upon humankind; the Old Gods who must be slain by your weapon-toting hand. Eldest Souls’ website reveals the details:
The Old Gods have long been imprisoned. Humanity has prospered. Great Kingdoms have arisen from the now forsaken temples of worship. But no longer…
In their final act of vengeance, the Old Gods have unleashed a great Desolation upon the world. Farmlands have turned to deserts, rivers to dust.
As a boss-rush game, Eldest Souls ditches minion battles. Instead, you only battle the Old Gods, and claim powerful rewards for your victories. The rewards come in the form of new powers and abilities that can be combined into numerous character builds. Eldest Souls’ customization depths are still unknown, however. Between god battles, you’ll explore the mysterious Citadel to uncover the truth behind the Old Gods and their imprisonment.
Eldest Souls’ fully animated trailer details the game’s epic story, from mankind’s simple beginnings to their enslavement by the Old Gods to their eventual uprising.
According to Eldest Soul’s Steam page, you won’t need a high-end gaming PC to explore Eldest Souls’ dark corners. Your PC needs at least a 3.2GHz quad-core processor, an Nvidia GeForce 960 GPU with 4GB of VRAM (or equivalent), 8GB of RAM, and 2GB of storage space. If you’re looking to grab a weapon and slay a deity, you don’t have to wait very long. Eldest Souls will release digitally on PC, as well as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on July 27. For more hot video game news, visit PCMag’s E3 page.
