Undercover Clothes is a brand created to offer various clothing styles that are perfect for men and women. Fashion trends and punk often influence the designs and styles of these clothes. Whether it is a dress, a jacket, or a t-shirt, the goal of these styles is to make you feel confident.
Influence of punk on fashion
Punk fashion is one of the most iconic subcultures in the history of the fashion industry. It was a reaction against mainstream fashion and hegemonic ideas of the time, and it greatly impacted art, politics, and society.
The term punk refers to several contradictory versions. For example, some punks would wear ripped jeans, while others would wear a ladylike skirt. Others would take on extreme hairstyles.
In a recent exhibit at MOMA in New York, curators explained how the art and fashion worlds were linked. Fashionistas were trying to channel the aesthetic.
Punk fashion was one of the main influences on modern style. As a result, many brands have attempted to recreate concealment gear.
Although the era was a powerful movement, it had some adverse side effects. One of the most significant negative consequences was the abuse of punk performers. Often, punk rockers wore Nazi Swastikas and images that were highly controversial. Nevertheless, they were not afraid to express their opinion in the face of polite society.
Punk fashion was a reaction against mainstream fashion and a way to break societal norms. Clothing was usually made with limited resources and was not sold to the public. Often, punks were able to find clothing at Good Will stores.
Another influential trend was the use of mullets. A wide rim around the eyes and bold patterns of colored hair characterizes mullets. These were a symbol of the punks’ aggressive stance.
Another important trend was the use of safety pins. Often, punks would purposely rip a T-shirt. Safety pins were used to hold the shirt together.
Other trends included laddered fishnets and tartan kilts. Women would often combine these styles.
Music is also an important part of the impact of punk on fashion. Punk rockers used images that were not considered appropriate by most of the audience. Yet, they were thrilling to listen to.
Some designers, like Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, have designed garments for musicians. Other designers such as Zandra Rhodes, John Galliano, and Alexander McQueen have interpreted punk fashion.
The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will present “Punk: Chaos to Couture” this spring. The exhibit will showcase a variety of high-end fashions inspired by punk clothing.
Collaborations
Undercover’s artistic director Jun Takahashi has been the driving force behind the brand since its inception in 1990. Over the years, the company has evolved from an edgy streetwear brand to a high-fashion powerhouse. However, the collection has always maintained a high standard of originality. It is known for its use of dark imagery and evocative garments.
This season’s collaboration with Undercover features dark and light elements. The designs include a range of pieces featuring a motif inspired by a late twentieth-century Japanese comedy. They also have apparel based on the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. These designs are based on the darker themes of the show. In addition to their clothing, the Undercover Production team produced a campaign visual. Featuring Japanese actors, the campaign aims to bring the two brands together.
Since its inception, Takahashi has used anime as a muse. His most recent collections featured clothes based on anime. He has also embraced the aesthetics of some of his favorite bands. One of these bands is Joy Division. Another is Einsturzende Neubauten. With the two brands, Takahashi aims to translate culture through his work.
Takahashi studied at the Bunka Fashion College, where he assisted Lucio Fontana. While working for the fashion label, he began associating with the brand A Bathing Ape. Later, he was the frontman of a cover band called Sex Pistols.
