President Donald Trump has today tweeted another election result rant but continues to stay silent on claims Russia was responsible for a massive cyberattack on the US.
In reference to an opinion piece on Joe Biden Mr Trump said: “He didn’t win the Election. He lost all 6 Swing States, by a lot. They then dumped hundreds of thousands of votes in each one, and got caught. Now Republican politicians have to fight so that their great victory is not stolen. Don’t be weak fools!”
Meanwhile, Mike Pompeo has claimed that Russia carried out the cyberattack that targeted a number of federal agencies, including the nuclear weapons agency.
The onslaught, that began in March, was “pretty clearly” linked to Russia, the Secretary of State said in a interview on the Mark Levin Show.
Mr Pompeo’s sentiments were echoed by Senator Marco Rubio who said the US will retaliate after a huge ongoing cyberattack against a number of government agencies.
The Republican Senator on Friday tweeted: “the methods used to carry out the cyberhack are consistent with Russian cyber operations.” He added that the US must retaliate “not just with sanctions.”
It comes as president-elect Joe Biden’s transition team has denied they agreed a two-week break in transfer-of-power briefings as tensions mount with Pentagon officials.
On Friday officials at the Pentagon said there was a “mutually-agreed upon holiday pause”, with meetings set to resume in January. But Yohannes Abraham, executive director of the Biden transition, denied this and said it was vital “engagements continue during this period.”
