Santa Claus said he was overjoyed to hear the news.
“It means the magic of Christmas will go on, and Santa will distribute presents everywhere in Quebec, and all over Canada.”
Junior journalist Raphael, 7, asked if it was still permitted to leave a glass of milk and some cookies out.
“Yes, of course,” Santa Claus said. “I love cookies and a glass of milk. I would also appreciate a small slice of cake or pie. Or even some small Portuguese custard tarts.”
Legault also had a favour to ask of all the children of Quebec.
“I want to say thank you, for being brave,” he said. “It has not been easy for children. Like us, you had to learn to wear masks, and to stay two metres from others.
“I have a final favour to ask of you for the holidays. You know for your parents it was a difficult year, so we ask that when you’re in the house, to try and be calm.
“Try to be calm, give your parents a hug, and try not to aggravate them, because they had a hard year, too.”
