A high school in San Francisco might remove Abraham Lincoln’s name because he supposedly did not show that “black lives mattered to him.”
This is according to a district committee that seemed to ignore than Lincoln also abolished slavery.
A man who gave more for the cause of black liberation than anyone on this “renaming committee” ever will or could even imagine has been tested and found wanting

Lincoln Was Too Racist To Be Honored Today?
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Lincoln is one of a number of historical figures who might have their names stripped from buildings because they supposedly led racist lives.
According to Jeremiah Jeffries, chairman of the renaming committee, “The discussion for Lincoln centered around his treatment of First Nation peoples, because that was offered first.”

“Once he met criteria in that way, we did not belabor the point,” Jeffries, who is also a first grade teacher, told the Chronicle.

Jeffries continued: “The history of Lincoln and Native Americans is complicated, not nearly as well known as that of the Civil War and slavery.”

Perhaps instead of erasing history, they could address that.

“Lincoln, like the presidents before him and most after, did not show through policy or rhetoric that black lives ever mattered to them outside of human capital and as casualties of wealth building,” Jeffries added.
Jeffries contends that for these reasons many of these historical figures should no longer be honored by having their names on city buildings.
“Uprooting the problematic names and symbols that currently clutter buildings, streets, throughout the city is a worthy endeavor,” he said.
“Only good can come from the public being reflective and intentional about the power of our words, names and rhetoric within our public institutions,” Jeffries added.
Major Backlash From High Up
Needless to say, backlash against the rename suggestion has been harsh.
Including from President Trump!
Trump tweeted in reaction, “So ridiculous and unfair. Will people never make a stand!”

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz also chimed in, tweeting: “Abraham Lincoln…George Washington…even Diane friggin’ Feinstein: NONE are woke enough for the America-hating radical Left.”
He added, “This will never stop, until Americans say “ENOUGH!!” and call it out for the ignorant nonsense that it is.”

Is Being The ‘Great Emancipator’ Not Good Enough For Today’s Left?
Many generations of Americans of all creeds and colors have considered Lincoln the Great Emancipator who freed the slaves.
When Barack Obama became president, he even used the Lincoln Bible for his inauguration in 2009.
Lincoln has been considered a hero since the Civil War, particularly to African Americans.
Harold Holzer, a Lincoln scholar and director of Hunter College’s Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute, told the Chronicle that Lincoln “was more progressive than most people” of his time.

If Lincoln Isn’t Safe From The Woke Mob, Nobody Is
“There was pretty rampant hostility (toward Native Americans) and I think Lincoln rose above it,” Holzer said.
“Nobody is going to pass 21st century mores if you’re looking at the 18th and 19th centuries,” he added.
Holzer makes a good point. Hardly any historical figure would survive the extreme litmus test of today’s far left.
If the Great Emancipator isn’t safe, no figure is.
