KEEP IT REAL
Re “Offer a solution” (Letters to the Editor, Dec. 17): The writer might be surprised that carbon tax critics care just as much about our planet’s future as he does. We care so much, in fact, that we examine proposed solutions closely. It is clear to us that virtue signalling will not affect global temperatures, now or in the future. If the writer, or Justin Trudeau, were truly concerned about the world their grandchildren will inherit, they would demand real solutions, ones which impose restrictions on the world’s largest polluters, including China and India. Impoverishing our country, to no purpose whatsoever, is the real crime against future generations.

MISMANAGEMENT
With 10 months to prepare for this second wave and hundreds of millions of dollars pumped into the system, funny how there are no media stories about all the new ICU beds and equipment your local hospitals put in place. That most likely means they haven’t. Those managing our health-care system and local hospitals need to be fired with cause. This next set of lockdowns, because they say the hospitals are now at risk of being overwhelmed, rests solely on their heads. When you are out of work with kids to feed, friends taking their own lives, marriages breaking up, and our elderly dying, it is time to stop blaming our neighbours. Blame the very people telling us to shut up and roll up our sleeves! I, for one, will never forget how they let us down.

(More questions do need to be asked of those in charge of the healthcare system and where all of those dollars have gone. Part of the problem is we already had an ailing system)
