A COVID-19 outbreak at a Fraser Health care home has been declared over.
The first case of the coronavirus at Coquitlam’s Belvedere Care Centre was reported on Nov. 3. Outbreak protocol was implemented shortly after.
The outbreak grew to infect nearly three dozen residents, killing six. At least 17 workers at the home were also infected during the nearly two-month outbreak.
On Thursday, Fraser Health announced the outbreak had been brought under control and there are no more COVID-19 cases at the home.
“At this time, it is critically important for people living in the Fraser Health region to use the COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested as soon as you have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones,” the health authority said in a statement issued on Christmas Eve.
“Please don’t wait, and book or drop by one of our collection centres which are operated in partnership with local Divisions of Family Practice. People living in the Fraser Health region can find information about test collection centres by visiting Fraser Health’s website.”
Belvedere Care Centre is owned and operated by Belvedere Seniors Living.
