European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and European Council president Charles Michel put pen to paper this morning during a brief signature ceremony in Brussels.
The documents will now be flown across the Channel to London in an RAF plane for Boris Johnson to sign, before Parliament debates the agreement.
The agreement needs the approval of Britain’s Parliament and the EU’s legislature, which is not expected to take up the deal for weeks.

Deal means UK will be ‘best friend and ally EU could have,’ Johnson says
Boris Johnson has said his deal means the UK will be “the best friend and ally the EU could have”, whilst fulfilling the “sovereign wish” of the British people to live under their own laws.
In a Commons speech, he will tell MPs: “The central purpose of the Bill is to accomplish something which the British people always knew in their hearts could be done, but which we were told was impossible.
“Namely that we could trade and cooperate with our European neighbours on the closest terms of friendship and goodwill, whilst retaining sovereign control of our laws and our national destiny.”
