Windsor’s historic Capitol Theatre will take centre stage during a province-wide New Year’s Eve celebration featuring Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies and many more top tier performers.
From Ontario With Love: A Celebration of Hope is a 90-minute special event taped in half a dozen different cities.
But the Capitol, which marks its 100th anniversary on New Year’s Eve, will be the hub of the event and the only location where celebrations will be broadcast live.
Kim’s Convenience star Andrew Phung and Canadian television and radio personality Arisa Cox will host live from the theatre with DJ duo Loud Luxury. The Windsor Symphony Orchestra will also perform.
The show, which will include fireworks, starts at 10:30 p.m. It will be broadcast on TVO, the TVO YouTube channel and a Facebook livestream at thestar.com.
Other performers include The Halluci Nation (formerly known as A Tribe called Red), AllyDice, ,Broadways Chilina Kennedy,CZN, Divine Brown, Jully Black, Measha Brueggergosman, LOONY, NOTIFI, Roy Woods, Ryhan Douglas, Sean Jones, Steele, The Tenors, Wali Shah and America’s Got Talent finalist Roberta Battaglia.
“It has been an honour in this difficult time to work with so many diverse artists, filmmakers, and production crews from across this province to celebrate hope for our future,” said producer Jeffrey Latimer with JL Entertainment.
