Free emergency child care will be available next week for local health-care employees and other front-line workers.
The City of Windsor said the province has provided funding for targeted emergency child care for school-aged children.
The free child care will be available Jan. 4 to 8. The city said it is being offered to support front-line workers while schools are closed to in-person learning.
The children must be school-aged and their parents have to be on the province’s List of Workers Eligible for Emergency Child Care. Only licensed child care centres or home child care programs in Essex County can be used.
Apply directly to the city’s Children’s Services Department or call the intake line at 519-255-5312 to ensure eligibility. Child care centres should not be contacted directly, according to the city.
Go to the city’s website for the child care application and consent forms.
