NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are investigating a mysterious loss of life on Staten Island after a lady was discovered caught in a rubbish chute.
Firefighters responded to a 911 name Friday afternoon at an condo constructing within the Silver Lake part of the borough. They discovered the 34-year-old sufferer unconscious and trapped inside a rubbish chute on the third ground.
Firefighters rushed to free her from a gap that was solely 18 inches by 18 inches.
“We had specialized equipment on the floor below starting to open up the shaft, but units were able to get her out of the the opening when she was stuck in,” FDNY Deputy Chief Mark Egan mentioned.
The lady was rushed to a hospital in cardiac arrest, however didn’t survive.
Police are investigating how she bought into the chute.
