“I did love to travel, and home was never in one particular place,” she said. “Having a daughter changed everything a little bit. But I’ve always loved to be able to hop in a car or on a plane and get away. My daughter also started J-K this year, so COVID aside, it’s the beginning of an end of an era for me. Which I knew was coming anyway.”
Besides the show’s potential for longevity, Lee was attracted to the role of Frankie Drake.
“I thought that she was this cool female Indiana Jones-type of character who has a lot of flaws, and that, for an actor, I think is always fun to play.”
The physicality of the role also appeals to her; Smith receives fight training and has learned to box for those scenes when criminals don’t come quietly.
Now that she’s wrapped up Season Four, the actor plans on relaxing by watching cooking and baking shows.
“It’s pure, mindless entertainment for me,” she said. “I don’t think about the lighting or the set design or the actors or the costumes. It’s like, ‘Nope, just watching some people make cupcakes.’ That’s it.”
