FOSSAMBAULT-SUR-LE-LAC — The body of a snowmobiler was recovered from the waters of Lac Saint-Joseph in the Capitale-Nationale region Friday evening.
The man in his 50s had left on his snowmobile at around 9:30 a.m. Concerned relatives reported his disappearance in the afternoon.
Police and firefighters from the town of Ste-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier launched a search around 4:30 p.m.
His body was found at around 9:30 p.m. at Fossambault-sur-le-Lac, approximately 45 minutes northwest of Quebec City.
The Sûreté du Québec is investigating the circumstances of the tragedy, said spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville. The man’s identity is expected to be made public later on Saturday.
