Quebec reports 2,588 new cases, 45 deaths as hospitalizations rise
Quebec has recorded 2,588 new cases of COVID-19, the provincial government announced this morning.
Forty-five new deaths were reported, including 14 over the past 24 hours.
Among the other deaths:
- 27 occurred between Jan. 1 and 6
- 3 occurred on Jan. 1.
- 1 occurred on an unknown date.
One death previously attributed to COVID-19 has been removed from the provincial tally.
Montreal Island was responsible for 837 of the cases announced today, as well as 11 of the deaths.
Twenty-three more people are in hospital with COVID-19, for a total of 1,403.
Among those in hospital, 207 are in intensive care – five more than the previous day.
On Wednesday, Quebec conducted 43,784 tests. That’s the last day for which screening data is available.
