Charges have been laid in two separate homicides in Vancouver last year.
A 36-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with manslaughter in the punching death of another man in September.
Vancouver police say the victim, Neil Scarisbrick, was assaulted during a confrontation near Columbia and East Hastings streets around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 7.
At the time, police said the victim had been punched and left on the street, and said they were investigating the case as a homicide.
Jonathan James Payne is charged with one count of manslaughter.
And a murder charge has been approved against a Vancouver man in a July shooting.
Officers responding to 911 calls about shots fired near Main Street and East 48th Avenue on July 13 found Amin Shahin Shakur, 30, dead at the scene.
Mohammed Abu-Sharife, 41, has been charged with second-degree murder.
Abu-Sharife is in custody until his next court appearance.
