However, in a statement health officials said it’s “critically important” for people living in the Fraser Health region to use the COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested as soon as they have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones.

Another 617 residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, B.C. health officials confirmed Friday.
The figures from Thursday from Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer, and Health Minister Adrian Dix means B.C. total of cases in this pandemic has hit 56,632. Another 18 deaths have been reported as well, bringing total deaths to 988 and all but guaranteeing that B.C. will eclipse 1,000 deaths over the weekend.
The majority of these deaths are among seniors living in long-term care facilities, where health officials continue to focus their immunization rollout on those likeliest to die from the coronavirus and the workers entrusted with their case.
“Long-term care outbreaks have been at the forefront of our minds and our hearts since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Henry and Dix said. “Each day, more of our seniors and elders who live in these homes, as well as the people who care for them, are protected with the vaccine.”
