When you think about it, the ability to watch the Canadiens play on TV is a good way to keep Quebecers at home at night, while also providing some live entertainment and a distraction from the pandemic. Those without a valid reason to be out during curfew hours could face fines of $1,000 to $6,000.
On Sunday morning, Quebec reported 2,588 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the province’s total to 228,821. The province also announced 39 more deaths, 14 of which occurred in the last 24 hours for which there is data.
The NHL proved during the playoffs last year just how seriously they take COVID-19 and there were no positive tests while the games were played in bubbles in Toronto and Edmonton. It was an impressive accomplishment by the league.
