A 42-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after an altercation in Chilliwack on December 27 left another man dead.
William Trevor Escott, who was later located and arrested by police, remains in custody. The victim, 45-year-old Carlton Leith, was found by police at the scene of the assault and was taken to hospital, where he died a few days later.
Police had responded to the 46200-block of Yale Road at 12:55 a.m. on December 27, where Leith was found with serious injuries.
“The work is not yet finished for our investigators as they continue to complete priority tasks,” says Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT. “We believe there are witnesses of the altercation that haven’t yet come forward. We urge them to contact IHIT and speak with our investigators.”
