The penthouse is part of the Ritz-Carlton Residences Montreal complex that includes 19 units, six of them penthouse apartments. Ownership brings access to amenities including valet and housekeeping services, as well as perks from the adjoining Ritz-Carlton Hotel like 24-hour room service and catering from their Maison Boulud restaurant.
The asking price for the penthouse, dubbed Rockstar by the developer because of its corner suite location “that brings the biggest ‘Wow’ factor,” Kaufman said, was $12.9 million. It was on the market for less than three months.
Condo fees are $125,000 a year, municipal and school taxes $84,000.
It’s been a busy year for Sotheby’s in Montreal, Kaufman said. She speculates it’s because the pandemic has pushed people to focus more on the quality of their living spaces. And because the city is now regarded as a safe haven for international clients, without the added cost of the foreign buyer tax seen in Vancouver and Toronto, international buyers account for more than 50 per cent of her sales.
