You can groan all you want at this musical selection. But to quote noted poet laureate Nayvadius Wilburn, “you do what you want when you poppin”.
It has only been two games, but the Canadiens are impressing with their brand of hockey.
The Canadiens earned the first victory of the season Saturday night in a 5-1 drubbing of the Edmonton Oilers. There was very little hesitancy in their game through the opening 40 minutes, and even if they might have slowed down in the final frame, the team had done more than enough to keep the Oilers at bay.
The Canadiens continue to carry some good will from the early impressions they made in their season opener, a 5-4 overtime loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Defence and indiscipline aside, the Canadiens offence impressed with their finishing, speed, and improved power play strategy. There will always be detractors (just ask those who weren’t pleased with Jonathan Drouin and Paul Byron after opening night), but it was hard to not look at the Canadiens opening game and not point out significant positives.
