Last year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, The CW’s high school football drama All American celebrated the important holiday with a racially divisive episode targeting police officers. The new season opened on the evening of King’s holiday this year with a tribute to the extremist, socialist group Black Lives Matter, as well as a dig at “racist” America.
Last year’s episode aired before the murder of George Flloyd, which incited protests, riots, and violence across the country even though the vast majority of Americans were appalled by how officers treated Flloyd, and it was rightly denounced by leaders on both sides of the political aisle. Front and center in those protests, of course, was the extremist, far-left, socialist group Black Lives Matter.
In Monday’s episode, “Seasons Pass,” All American paid homage to BLM with a mural painted on the floor by students at Beverly Hills High:
Chris: Yo, how you not even a student here anymore, but you got us out here doing manual labor?
Spencer: ‘Cause it’s a dope idea, and it’s important to Liv. All right?
Liv: Think that’s it. We’re done.
Jordan: I’m proud of you. It’s not bad for your first move as president of the Black Student Caucus.
Liv: Well, it’s senior year. It’s time to make a statement.
So, while Trump is being impeached for inciting violence on the Capitol, the vast destruction, shootings, fires, and deaths that occurred during BLM protests leads to glorifying BLM? Got it. That’s definitely quite a statement.
Liv later makes out with her boyfriend Asher who asks her what she’s been up to all summer while they’ve been apart. The podcast host answers, “Nothing. I mean, the BLM demonstrations and parts of America showing its racist ass, I’ve just been neck-deep in podcast stuff. But whatever.”
As Hollywood continues to divide us further and further apart with such race-baiting and pro-BLM storylines, it’s a sad reminder of how desperately we need MLK’s wisdom and leadership now more than ever.
