According to a recent report from Marca, Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard has asked to leave the club during the January transfer window.
Odegaard was once considered to be the future for the Spanish giants but that hasn’t been the case for quite some time. He’s clearly very talented and has been able to showcase that away from the Bernabeu, and it’s looking increasingly likely that Zinedine Zidane is open to the prospect of selling him.
This is especially important for the Premier League as a handful of clubs are believed to be in the mix to sign him. Whether or not Odegaard is particularly interested in switching gears from Spain to England remains to be seen, but if he’s serious about testing himself and seeing what he’s capable of outside of La Liga, there’s no better proving ground in world football than the Premier League – and that much seems obvious.
